did a 3hr, 7km round trip hike. the route’s mostly flat and easy to do. the lake’s view is just okay, but the other part’s view is goood. super recommended if you’re after easy but still fun trip! (oooh and we saw a wild kangaroo too!)

Yellow Gum Park is a peaceful haven with stunning views, native bushland, and the serene Blue Lake. Trails are well-marked, and recent upgrades to the Upper Car Park make access smoother and safer. Ideal for quiet walks, birdwatching, or picnics with a view. The mix of cliffs, water, and wildlife creates a calming escape close to suburbia. Whether you're seeking solitude or a scenic spot to share, this park delivers natural beauty and emotional resonance in every visit.

We did the 4.7km loop trail and found it to be an easy to medium-level walk—great for a relaxed outing. The track is well-maintained, so no need to go off-road, and it’s suitable for walkers of most fitness levels. There’s also a designated path for bikers, which is a nice bonus. A few smaller loops branch off with lovely views of the lake. Peaceful setting, and we didn’t spot any snakes. A pleasant and accessible nature walk!

I have never seen so many kangaroos in one place. A fabulous walk around the Blue Lake was the perfect way to spend an hour in nature, especially on a crisp autumn day. Not far from home either!

Beautiful afternoon walk at Yellow Gum Park and the Blue Lake in Plenty Gorge. Such gorgeous views. Great walk to do with kids. The track is wide (fire access track) although made from gravel. A pram would be okay, but probably not a stroller. Mountain biking is extremely popular in the park as well. We walked the loop around the Blue Lake from the carpark. But there are many more tracks to explore!
